First Coast Section

Ride the Rails to FPC 2026!

Skip the airport stress and long drive —the APA Florida First Coast Section is planning a shared Amtrak trip from Jacksonville or Palatka to Miami for the 2026 Florida Planning Conference.

 

The First Coast Section will:

  • Pay for your train ticket from the Jacksonville OR Palatka Amtrak Stations
  • Coordinate transportation between the Amtrak station and the conference hotel
  • Help make the trip easy, affordable, and enjoyable

Basics – Group Ticketing

  • Must have 15 per station for group reservation (if less we will just pay individually, this would still be in our budget)
  • Once we have names, book online, use phone number option, can change up until about a week ahead to modify, 100% transferrable, there is a way to edit online in the reservation

 

Dining/Networking

  • Café car
    • 30 min time restriction
    • Fits 30 people at a time
  • Lunch – everyone’s on their own, service discontinued
  • Can bring food and drink on, but they can’t heat or cool – will provide ice, we could bring small personal coolers

 

Check In

  • Ask everyone get there 30 minutes ahead to check in with station crew for the group – then they will board us first
  • Cut off to board is 5 minutes before departure time
  • Will be seated together, will be in the conductors plan

 

Tips

  • Trains tend to get cold so be sure to bring sweater/jacket
  • Will have small stops in case someone smokes or wants to step out
